James Thomas Watkins

Tom Watkins began his painting career in the early 1960s. Although the artist studied briefly with Roman Chatov (Russian born artist, 1900-1987) in Atlanta, Georgia during the 1970s, he is primarily self-taught.
The artist has had several exhibitions: The Commerce Public Library (Commerce, GA) in 1990; “Art Passions” at the School for Creative and Performing Arts (Cincinnati, OH) in 1989; “Photographs” and “Spirits of Still Life” both at Mulane’s Restaurant & Gallery (Cincinnati, OH) in 1994 and 1995; St. Luke Festival of the Arts (Florence, KY) in 1991. Mr. Watkin's art is also represented in many private collections.
Thomas Watkins currently lives in the Greater Cincinnati (Ohio) Area and is well known for his still lifes, florals and figurative works. The tasteful use of vivid and bright colors is one of his trademarks. He is a noted gospel organist with a record album to his credit. He has been the musical director and organist at a Cincinnati area non-denominational church for more than 21 years. An avid gardener, Mr. Watkins has built a beautiful garden at his Northern Kentucky home of over 20 years.
